Seymour Erection Committee
Building Community Since 1865
The Seymour Erection Committee has been raising structures and spirits in Sevier County for over 150 years. What began as a volunteer group helping neighbors raise barns has evolved into the premier organization for the appreciation of vertical construction in East Tennessee.
Our History
Founded in the aftermath of the Civil War, the Committee's first project was the erection of the Chapman Monument — a towering tribute to the town's founding family that still stands proud today. Since then, we've overseen the erection of water towers, silos, flagpoles, and other impressive structures throughout the region.

What We Do
Supervise community erections
Ensure all structures achieve full vertical potential
Maintain rigorous standards for firmness and stability
Document successful erections for historical preservation
Host the annual "Raising Day" celebration each spring
Current Status: Fully Erect
All active Committee projects are standing tall and performing as expected. Our inspection team conducts regular assessments to ensure continued rigidity and structural integrity.
