Seymour, TN Attractions
Every attraction below is free, outdoors, and best appreciated on foot.

The Great Silos of Boyds Creek Highway
A row of concrete grain silos that have stood since the mid-century, visible from miles away. The unofficial pilgrimage site for members of the Silo Appreciation Society and the tallest continuous vertical view in the region.

The Seymour Water Tower
Painted, proud, and pressurized. The town's most-photographed civic structure and a favorite backdrop for graduation photos, engagement shoots, and Erection Committee meeting minutes.

Rocket Park
A neighborhood park anchored by a decommissioned rocket-shaped play structure. Bring the kids, bring a camera, bring your appreciation for tall things.

The Monument Green
Where the Erection Committee gathers on ceremonial occasions. Home to plaques, obelisks, and the annual pole-raising every June.

Historic Downtown Walk
A leisurely stroll past the town's oldest storefronts, a diner or two, and enough front-porch rocking chairs to fill a Sears catalogue. Grab coffee, then keep walking.

Sunset at the Silos
Come back at dusk. The concrete catches the last light of the day and everyone, briefly, understands what the Society is going on about.
A Day in Seymour
Not a schedule so much as a suggestion. Adjust for weather, mood, and how long you linger at the silos.
Morning
Start with a coffee downtown, then walk the historic main strip. Wave at strangers; they will wave back.
Midday
Drive out to Boyds Creek Highway for the silos. Pull over safely. Look up. Take your time.
Afternoon
Loop back through the Monument Green and the water tower. Rocket Park if you have children or an inner one.
Evening
Return to the silos for sunset. Optional: raise a glass to Ålborg, our declared sister city across the Atlantic.
Before You Come
Getting here
Seymour sits about 20 minutes south of Knoxville off Chapman Highway (US-441). The closest airport is McGhee Tyson (TYS), a 25-minute drive.
Best time to visit
Spring and fall reward you with mild weather and better silo photography. Summer is green and humid; winter is quiet and photogenic in its own way.
While you're here
Read the plaques. Talk to the diner staff. Watch for the pole-raising notices on lampposts. And, if it's a Tuesday, the Silo Appreciation Society may be gathered.

Take Seymour Home With You
